Strawberry - Fragaria ananassa JUST ADD CREAM

‘Just Add Cream’ is a new strawberry hybrid bred from the crossing of traditional varieties with those displaying pink flowers (Fragaria x ananassa).

It has compact cushion/mound-forming habit, reaching about 30 cm high and 50 cm across, and produces few stolons which results in its giving a greater number of fruits; it dies in winter and regenerates in spring.

Blooms from the beginning of May till the first ground frost in autumn.

Gives fruits early and continues bearing them till the autumn; they boast exceptional flavour, incomparable to other strawberries on the fresh fruit market, are sweet and large in size as traditional strawberries and have unique flavour, typical of the alpine strawberries but stronger and more stable throughout the whole season.

Gives an abundant crop up to 1 kg per plant.

Thrives in a sunny position but during heat waves requires regular watering while in cool weather susceptible to over-watering.

Boasts numerous ornamental features; when grown in containers it cascades beautifully and is covered with an abundance of pink flowers and red fruits at the same time which make it extremely attractive.

Excellent for growing in pots on terraces and balconies, it can also be cultivated in soil but requires mulching to prevent or limit its fruits’ contact with the substrate.
